FARMHAND

JOB OVERVIEW

Fat Beet Farm is looking for a hard-working farmhand to assist in various tasks around the farm and in our gardens. We are a growing sustainable farm that
practices regenerative agriculture in soil-based gardening; as well as, aquaponics and microgreen growing.

​​You will have the opportunity to work on a full spectrum of farm activities:

  • Preparing beds and transplanting seedlings
  • Weeding & Cultivating with hand tools and racks
  • Seeding crops
  • Crop maintenance such as pruning, pest control, fertilizing
  • Harvesting, washing, and bringing vegetables up to the kitchen
  • General farm and property maintenance
  • Maintaining our irrigation system
  • Caring for and cleaning laying hens
  • Feeding and watering animals, collecting eggs, cleaning coops
  • Assist in microgreens production

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work quickly. Must work well with a team, and also be willing to work alone. Friendly and passionate about seasonal and sustainable food, must be able to lift at least 50#, heavy lifting is a daily practice. Good physical health with the ability to work long days outdoors during the spring, summer, fall, and winter. Must be able to work in hot weather during those Florida summers! A good attitude and ability to adapt quickly to our growing farm!

  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS
    Prior experience on a farm is a must
  • Knowledge of sustainable farming practices

KITCHEN – PRODUCTION COOK

Fat Beet Farm Kitchen and Bakery is located on 13 acres of beautiful Florida coastal landscape. Our fully sustainable farm-to-fork facility along with our innovative kitchen technology was created to ensure a culinary program with an unmatched commitment to beautifully prepared, deliciously healthy, and wholesome foods.

The Production Cook provides support as a member of the Prepared Foods team to include preparation, packaging, sanitation, and stocking of products.  The Production Cook is a key team member, contributing to the successful operation of the department.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Production Chef reports to and works directly with the Lead Production Chef, collaborating with menu planning and development, daily productivity, menu cost controls, and ordering processes to ensure production meets business levels.

Other Duties Include:

  • Daily preparation of Catered and Pickup meals
  • Ensure packaging presentation is correct and consistent
  • Maintain inventory levels 
  • Maintain a well-organized kitchen in a clean and safe manner

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Culinary school graduate
  • 4 years production cooking
  • Serve Safe certified

The COUNTER / REGISTER position works primarily in the foodservice operation using a POS system to handle cash and credit transactions from customers. In addition, they will assist in the setup and packaging of food from refrigerators and warming ovens. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Operates a POS system, receives payments of cash, checks, and charges for goods or services, making changes and issuing receipts to customers.
  • Answers telephone to provide callers with directions to the farm, hours of operation, take-out orders, etc.
  • Makes food and drink recommendations to guests who are indecisive.
  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Smiles and interacts positively with all Guests
  • Maintains proper security of cash at all times.
  • Assembles take-out orders by putting needed sauces, silverware, and food into the take-out bags.
  • Understands and follows Fat Beet cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Set up and stock the beverage area
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, and other equipment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years restaurant experience 
  • Knowledge of POS systems
  • Cash handling experience
